There is something extra special about celebrating a birthday at Camp Cody. Being away from home does not mean missing out on birthday traditions. Instead, campers get to celebrate surrounded by their cabinmates, friends, and the entire Cody community.
Making the Birthday Camper Feel Special
From the start of the day, we make sure everyone knows there is a birthday to celebrate.
The camper’s bunk area is decorated, and they receive a special Camp Cody birthday T-shirt to wear and take home as a keepsake from their summer birthday.
At our morning pep rally, the entire camp joins together to sing Happy Birthday, giving the birthday camper a pretty memorable start to their day.
A Birthday Adventure
Birthday campers also have the opportunity to enjoy something special during rest time based on their interests.
That might mean extra time on the Wibit, a boat ride on Lake Ossipee, trampoline ball, stargazing, or another favorite activity. It gives campers a chance to celebrate with friends while doing something they genuinely enjoy.
We also know birthdays are an important day for families back home. Campers can send a birthday message home or have a quick check-in call so parents can be part of their special day too.
Cake With the Cabin
Of course, it would not be a birthday without cake!
At dinner, our Dining Hall prepares a birthday cake for the camper to share with their cabin. It is a fun way to end the celebration surrounded by the friends who have become such an important part of their summer.
A Birthday They Will Remember
A birthday at Cody may look a little different from one at home, but that is what makes it so memorable. We make sure our birthday campers feel special from morning until night.
And for many campers, celebrating a birthday at camp becomes one of their favorite Cody memories.
