Camp Cody offers personalized tutoring in math, science, reading comprehension, and English as a second language (ESL). Our staff includes certified teachers and college education majors who provide one-hour sessions tailored to each camper’s academic needs. Parents enrolling their campers for tutoring are asked to communicate with their child’s teacher(s) to determine areas for improvement. Staff tutors work with each camper to tackle these focus areas and prepare for the next school year.
Tutoring sessions integrate seamlessly with the Camp Cody schedule. Each camper attends 5-6 activities daily; those enrolled in personalized tutoring spend one of these periods working with our tutors. Personalized tutoring is not included in base tuition and is available as an optional add-on during registration.
Math and science tutors will develop an individualized plan to meet the exact learning needs of your camper. Whether it’s extra algebra help or additional coursework to strengthen a skillset, we’ll develop the skills, habits and attitudes your child needs for success in high school and beyond. Many of our campers focus on Basic Math, Computational Skills, Pre- Algebra, Algebra, Geometry and Pre Calc.
Reading comprehension is your camper’s ability to read words and associate them with proper meaning. Although the focus of the activities is on reading, the improvement of writing is an equally important goal. Each summer, our staff work with campers to build their reading comprehension skills necessary to understand, recall and share information about something read.
This program is open to campers ages 7 to 15 years old who want to learn and improve their English skills. All levels of English proficiency are welcome. TOEFL test scores are not required. While the vast majority of Cody’s campers come from the northeast, we do have a handful of campers who fly in from Mexico, Spain, France, South Korea and Italy.
