Summer Camp Activities Kids Can Do At Home This Winter

Camp Cody Team 11/13/2020

Winter is upon us which means we need to prepare to get bundled up! Although it’s going to get cold outside and we may experience some snowfall, this doesn’t mean kids can’t stay active. In fact, there are plenty of games and activities kids do at summer camp that they can do at home this winter.

S’mores: On those rare warmer winter nights, the whole family can sit in the backyard and build a fire. If it’s cold out, s’mores can easily be done indoors. This is the perfect, cozy winter activity that everyone can enjoy. It also gives the family the opportunity to bond and discuss the day as well as what’s to come for next summer.

Arts & Crafts: There are numerous arts and crafts kids can try out at home ranging from jewelry making to wreath making for the holidays to snow-themed arts and crafts. This winter activity is also perfect for the winter as kids can make gifts for Christmas and Hanukkah.

Tie Dye: This is a staple at summer camp and it’s a cheap activity. All you need are some t-shirts or hoodies and a tie-dye kit.

Talent Show: Host a talent show right in your living room! Everyone can spend the day preparing their talent whether it be a magic trick, dance, singing or playing instruments.

Indoor Scavenger Hunt: Who says scavenger hunts need to be outside? Hosting an indoor scavenger hunt will kill a lot of time on a snowy day. There are numerous websites that provide handy scavenger hunt ideas including Good Housekeeping and Mommy Poppins.

Cook a Camp Meal: Recreate some of your kid’s favorite summer camp dishes right at home. Make a salad bar, build your own sandwich bar or whip up some sloppy joe’s.
