Best Summer Adventures for Kids in New Hampshire

Camp Cody Team

There is something special about summer in New Hampshire. Days are spent on the water, mountains fill the horizon, and evenings end under star-filled skies.

For kids, it is the perfect setting to step outside their comfort zones, discover new interests, and experience the kind of outdoor adventures they simply cannot get during the school year.

Located on the shores of Lake Ossipee with the White Mountains nearby, Camp Cody allows campers to experience some of the very best of a New Hampshire summer, all while surrounded by friends.

1. Experience the White Mountains

The White Mountains are one of the most recognizable parts of New Hampshire, known for beautiful scenery, forests, trails, and incredible views.

At Camp Cody, that landscape is right in our backyard.

Campers have opportunities to get outside, explore, hike, and experience the natural beauty that makes this part of New Hampshire so special. For many children, it may be their first opportunity to spend this much time outdoors, away from screens and everyday distractions.

Whether they are heading out on an adventure or simply looking toward the mountains from camp, the setting becomes part of their Cody experience.

2. Spend Summer on Lake Ossipee

For many Cody campers, the lake quickly becomes one of their favorite places at camp.

Camp Cody sits directly on beautiful Lake Ossipee, giving campers access to a huge variety of waterfront activities throughout the summer.

They can learn to waterski or wakeboard, head out in a kayak, try paddleboarding, go sailing, or simply jump in for a swim with friends.

Campers do not need to arrive knowing how to do any of it. Our instructors work with different ages and experience levels, giving kids the opportunity to learn at their own pace, build their skills, and gain confidence along the way.

There is nothing quite like the excitement of getting up on waterskis for the first time or jumping into the lake with your cabin on a hot New Hampshire afternoon.

3. Spend Summer Nights Under the Stars

Some of the best camp memories happen after the day’s activities are over.

Summer evenings at Cody might mean gathering around a campfire, singing camp songs, spending time with cabinmates, or taking part in one of our evening programs.

These quieter moments give campers time to connect in a completely different way. Without phones or screens competing for their attention, conversations happen naturally, friendships grow stronger, and simple moments become some of the ones campers remember most.

A campfire, good friends, and a New Hampshire night sky can be pretty hard to beat.

4. Get Outside and Try Something New

A New Hampshire summer is made for being active, and at Cody, no two days have to look the same.

Campers can challenge themselves through sports, outdoor adventures, creative activities, and experiences they may never have tried at home.

One day might include archery and tennis. The next could mean waterskiing, arts and crafts, or heading out on an outdoor adventure.

With so much to choose from, campers have the freedom to discover what they enjoy. Sometimes that means becoming better at an activity they already love. Other times, it means trying something completely new and realizing they are pretty good at it.

A New Hampshire Summer They Will Remember

The best childhood summers are not always about one big adventure. They are made up of hundreds of little moments.

It is jumping into Lake Ossipee with friends. Seeing the White Mountains in the distance. Learning a new skill. Laughing around a campfire. Trying something you were nervous to do. And heading back to your cabin at the end of the day already excited about tomorrow.

At Camp Cody, those moments come together to create a summer filled with friendship, independence, confidence, and plenty of adventure.
