Connection to Camp
5 Years • Cody Camper
I come back every year because Cody has become like a second home to me. Every year I can look forward to coming back to camp and seeing all the friends I have made here over the last five years and it’s a great way to get away from everything and just have fun.
Cody is a place that I know will always be there for me. Cody has given me an amazing opportunity to meet people from all over the world and the relationships you form with all the people here is one of the best experiences you can get. Cody is a safe place where you can truly be yourself. Camp means an escape from the stresses of everyday life where I can spend time with the wonderful people I have met here.
My favorite experience as a JC was being given the opportunity to teach some activities that I loved as a camper. After helping at an activity for a few sessions, the counselor gave me the opportunity to run of the activity sessions. It gave me the full counselor experience and I got to see what it would be like if I became a staff member. With the help of the counselor, I was able to run a successful lesson and I had a blast doing it. Being a Junior Counselor gave me a great balance between being a part of the staff but still having fun like a camper.
I have learned to make the most out of every moment at Camp. Every year when I come home from camp, I always wish I stayed for another session. The environment here is unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. You meet amazing people and create memories that will truly last a lifetime. This year as a Junior Counselor I got to live with the campers and I got to see what it was like to be a counselor after years of being a camper. I felt like a role model for these girls and I learned about the other side of camp. To go from being a camper to a counselor is a huge change. This year I got to see how hard our staff works and it made me appreciate the counselors I have had in the past even more. The Cody staff is an amazing and hard-working group and I am proud to be part of the Camp Cody community.
